Presentation Overview:

As Marianne turns her attention from designing the strategy of the university’s technology plan to ensuring all the plan’s initiatives align with the strategic direction of the university, she knows that 70% of large-scale transformational change initiatives fail according to a 2016 McKinsey report. Determined to be among the initiatives that succeed, she discovered the Brightline Transformation Compass and 10 Guiding Principles that are provided in partnership with PMI. that is dedicated to ‘helping executives bridge the expensive and unproductive gap between strategy design and delivery’. Marianne will use the 10 guiding principles workshop material to present lessons learned from the first phase of delivering the 2025 technology plan and leverage the collective knowledge of the group to inform the next phase of her work.

Speaker Biography:

Marianne Bell believes dreams are achievable goals that are realized when navigating a strategic and purposeful journey which is why she is drawn to leading projects that enable growth and transformation. She is an independent, driven, curious, and compassionate woman who wears many hats including lifelong learner, wife of 21 years, mother of a young female entrepreneur, leader, advisor, mentor and educator to name a few. In her current role as Sr. Technology Strategist with the University of Saskatchewan, she works with academic and business leaders to partner with IT and implement technology-enabled initiatives that achieve the strategic goals of the 2025 university, college, and foundational unit plans. She is also the sole proprietor of Navigate Your Life, a personal development business that enables her to connect emerging business leaders and entrepreneurs with diverse knowledge, interdisciplinary experience, coaching and mentorship that supports their ability to successfully translate their organization’s vision into expected results.
