Presentation Topic: Motivating Your Team During Times of Change

Speaker: Marianne Bell, PMP.

Speaker Biography:  Marianne Bell is a certified project management professional and Maxwell Leadership coach, trainer and speaker that has spent the majority of her career helping leaders in the public and private sector achieve their business goals through technology enabled business process improvement or transformation initiatives.   She is currently working with the College of Medicine’s Accreditation Office to ensure medical students receive a quality education and BLG Business Solutions to enable small business owners to teach online with Kajabi

Presentation Overview: As project managers and leaders, we know projects are the most effective way to create the change our organization’s need to realize strategy yet according to a 2019 international survey of 1,636 executives sponsored by the PMI’s Brightline Initiative, only 1 out of 5 organizations achieve 80% or more of their strategic intent. In their free online course on how to turn ideas into results, Brightline suggests the cause of this gap between the design and delivery of strategy is not a problem with how we execute the projects but with human behaviour. They say, to deliver stellar results, people need to be hyper-aligned and laser-focused on the highest-impact actions that will drive the organization’s most important outcomes. Having a motivated team helps achieve this but when people are feeling disconnected, disengaged, and leaving for other opportunities, what can be done to have a motivated team? In this presentation, Marianne will talk about how encouraging your team to create a personal transformation plan using the Maxwell DISC behavioural report can be an effective way to enable: 1) retention of dis-engaged team members, 2) building an inclusive team environment and 3) achieving strategic intent.

Presentation Learning Objective: Attendees will walk away with tools they can use to help their team a) define & align their career aspirations with the project’s purpose b) develop an understanding of themselves – how they solve problems, respond to challenges, communicate and are motivated and c) Develop a personal transformation plan that works.
