Speaker Biography: Although he has been at SaskTel for many years, Mike’s career has consistently involved transformation and innovation.  In his current role, Mike is responsible for identifying and implementing new business models, which requires both collaboration with many external stakeholders, and creative thinking.  Context matters, and Mike’s desire to better understand problems to be solved (and the associated opportunity) has helped him identify and push innovation.  With a degree in Commerce from the Edwards School of Business (University of Saskatchewan) and a Master of Public Administration from the Johnson-Shoyama GSPP (University of Regina), Mike has a unique blend of understanding business and public policy environments, which helps him think more holistically when trying to pursue an innovative initiative.

Presentation Overview: The presentation will provide an overview and definition of different models of innovation and the implications of each.  From there, different approaches for working with and thinking through these models will be explored to give attendees a framework for working on the different types of innovation.

Presentation Learning Objective: 1. Participants will have a better understanding of the different types of innovation. 2. Participants will learn approaches to working with the different types of innovation.
