PMI-NSC Newsletter
January 2007

President's Message

Welcome to 2007!
We have an exciting line planned for the
North Saskatchewan Chapter (NSC) this year.

This inaugural newsletter, is our first big event for 2007. A regular newsletter is a large commitment of time and effort, but it also offers many opportunities for our Chapter. A newsletter is a great vehicle for us all to share information, grow as professionals and as a community. I certainly look forward, with anticipation, to each new edition.

We are extremely fortunate that members Lynn Francis, the Chapter’s VP of Communications, and Alain Mokbel, our newsletter editor, have taken up the challenge to produce this newsletter. Their talent, hard work, and determination make this newsletter possible. Thank you to our newsletter volunteer team, Lynn and Alain!

Our program events have a new venue for 2007, the Saskatoon Club. The Saskatoon Club offers the ability to house larger groups for lunch, without compromising on quality. Our VP of Programs, Jason Tratch will continue to bring in informative and engaging speakers.

Our project 4th Annual Professional Development Day (PDD) is again scheduled for April. Chris Schwarz, our VP of Professional Development will be working hard to put together another valuable day of learning for project managers. Expect to hear more details about the PDD in the coming days.

NSC is also very proud to be a co-host for the spring 2007 PMI Region 2 conference. As a Co-host, NSC volunteers, Brenda Comfort and Chris Schwarz have been engaged on the conference planning committee along-side the Central Illinois Chapter members. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn about hosting an international conference. We are hopeful that this experience will be utilized in the coming years.

In June, we will hold our annual meeting and elections. If you wish to learn more about the operations of the Chapter or become involved on the executive or as a volunteer, this is the meeting to attend!

Our Chapter’s mission statement is “to lead and support the application, continual improvement and growth of project management”. In 2007, I hope you agree, NSC is fulfilling that mission.

PMI-NSC
A Look at the Early Days of the Chapter

Mr. Dennis Sabat, first President and co-founder of the chapter, was kind enough to allow Lynn Francis to pick his memory in an effort to talk about the humble beginnings of the North Saskatchewan Chapter.
